College is supposed to be about learning and developing new ideas and meeting new people. For Franco Garcia, it seemed he was living up to this tradition and doing everything right. This just makes his disappearance all the more alarming for everyone involved, including his friends and family.
Police Still Have No Clues
The Boston College student is missing and there does not seem to be a clue on where he is or what could have happened. The police have already searched the Chestnut Hill Reservoir but the search by volunteers continues after the police decided to call it quits. They have done almost everything possible to find Garcia; the police have used a helicopter, sonar for the bottom of the reservoir, and dive crews. Nothing has brought home even a shred of evidence.
Friends and Family Search
One of Garcia’s best friends, Rachele Reis, organized a foot search that involved about 40 people. They spanned out in groups of 3 to 4 and each group was designated a section to cover. Unfortunately, this search proved fruitless as each group came up with nothing after combing their sections of the Boston College and Chestnut Hill area for about 3.5 hours.
Last Seen at a Bar
Twenty one year old Garcia has been unaccounted for since Wednesday at 12:15am. He was hanging out at Mary Ann’s Bar in Cleveland Circle where he was thought to be studying. Though no one is saying foul play was involved, the entire situation (and lack of evidence) has to have some questioning if there are not other forces at work here.
More Searches to Come
The volunteers are certainly not done yet. Local businesses have heated up the printing presses and have spread the word around the community about their missing friend and teammate. They have used fliers and every social media marketing channels that they could think of, plus friends and family have knocked on doors and visited nearby businesses. The social media work is really taking off; 2,200 members have jumped on board this Facebook page. Still, there are not any real clues on the whereabouts of Garcia and the frustration is apparent. Garcia is on Twitter now too (@FindFranco).
Shameful and Worrisome
There is a mass that is designated for the safe return for Garcia and it seems that his loyal friends and loving family are determined to uncover this local mystery. If you have any information about this young man’s disappearance, contact your local police department immediately.

My son is a Freshman at Boston College. I feel that overall he is safe. We will continue to pray for Garcia and his family and friends. At a time like this we must all pull together in Christ and pray.
