Online Bachelor’s Degrees in Teaching
Graduates may opt for entry-level employment or further their education and enroll in a graduate-level degree program in teaching. The curriculum within online baccalaureate-level programs in teaching may combine general education requirements along with major-specific courses and classes catered toward their particular teaching subject, such as mathematics, science, English, and social science. In these four-year programs, students may learn how to plan lessons, assess students’ abilities and weaknesses, and communicate with parents, students, and other educators about children’s progress. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities for those pursuing careers as kindergarten or elementary teachers are expected to increase by 17% from 2010-2020.*

Graduates of online bachelor’s degree programs in teaching may continue their education and enroll in an online master’s-level degree program in teaching. These graduate-level programs may provide students with additional training and teaching methods. Employers may prefer to hire individuals who have at least a bachelor’s degree, and for those who seek employment in a public school, they may need a state-issued certification or license.
